The Human Immunodeficiency Virus is the cause of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. This is a condition in people that leads to a failed immune system. It allows cancers and infections to thrive in the body. This virus affects vital cells such as dendritic cells, helper T cells and macrophages. It leads to low CD4 cells in the body such that immunity is lost and one is therefore susceptible to many infections. There is a lot of information on HIV AIDS causes.

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus is widespread in all countries in the world. It is present in genital and blood secretions of any individual that is already infected with it. This is regardless of whether the person has any physical symptoms or not. The spread of this virus can occur when body fluids come in contact with certain tissues including those that line the anal area, the vagina, the eyes and the mouth. A break on the skin as a result of a cut or prick by a needle can also cause the spread of this deadly virus.

There are many symptoms of this virus. However, most people do not show any signs during the first days after infection. Many people start showing symptoms such as flu-like illnesses within the first three to six weeks after they have been exposed to the virus. This signs include nausea, fever, tiredness, diarrhea, headache and lymph nodes that are enlarged.

This early symptoms usually disappear within a month. They are usually taken as symptoms for a viral infection. After some time HIV infection weakens the immune system and other symptoms begin to show. One is rapid weight loss. Recurring fevers and sweating at night are also common.

Prolonged swelling of the glands in the neck, groin and armpits as well as feeling tired for no particular reason are other signs of infection. Other symptoms include sores on the genitals and mouth, pneumonia and diarrhea that is present for more than seven days. Some individuals also develop brown, pink or red blotches on the skin or on the mouth and nose, depression, memory loss and other neurological disorders.

All the symptoms above are usually related to other diseases and thus can be mistaken. The only sure way to find out if one is infected with HIV is to get tested. AIDS is a term used to refer to the advanced stages of this disease.

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus is only spread through fluids in the body. It is found in vaginal fluid, blood, semen and breast milk of infected individuals. It can therefore be spread by having unprotected sex with multiple partners. This is regardless of whether you are bisexual, homosexual or heterosexual. People who are sexually active are advised to use protection to avoid getting infected.

The virus is also found in saliva, tears and sweat though not in amounts that can be transmitted to other people. There is no chance of it being spread though shaking hands, sneezing and other forms bodily contact. Most HIV AIDS causes are behavioral. They can therefore be avoided easily.
